Grounds Training was established in 2006 in response to demand from the Turf Industry for coordinated, professional training. Since then we have gained recognition as the go-to provider for individuals and groups, and our main focus is training for groups of 4 or more, onsite at clients’ premises.
We particularly appreciate the excellent relationship we have built up with our regular clients and we are passionate about encouraging groundsman and those employed in general ground care to work safely and efficiently.
We are a division of the Maxwell Amenity Group based in Telford, Shropshire, which also incorporates Pitchcare. Our Head Office team comprises of Carol Smith, Training Co-ordinator and Kerry Haywood, Training Manager.
Our popular and highly regarded sports Lantra Accredited turf maintenance courses are available online and provide flexible, portable training that can take place at any time.
Bowls Green Maintenance
Cricket Pitch Maintenance (Spring & Summer)
Winter Sports Pitch Maintenance (Rugby & Football)
Cricket Pitch Maintenance (Autumn & Winter)
The course comprises a series of online training videos, followed by multi-choice questions and answers.
We maintain a database of Lantra Awards and City & Guilds (NPTC) registered instructors whom we can call on to deliver courses to our members.
In addition we would like to hear from any instructors with turfcare industry experience who would be interested in delivering the Pitchcare General Sports Turf Maintenance courses in winter and/or summer sports, particularly if you also have a recognised teaching or instructional techniques qualification and a good knowledge of health and safety.
Lantra is the Government approved Sector Skills Council for the sports turf industry. Unlike other providers (who offer self-evaluated and self-assessed training), Grounds Training courses, their content and instructors are independently assessed and verified by Lantra.
Lantra Certificate of Training lasts for life. However, we will be reviewing the content of our online courses from time to time, to take into account any recommended changes in procedures and/or Health and Safety recommendations.
A full list of our courses, instructors and topical news can all be found on the Grounds Training website which, can easily be viewed on all platforms. Whether your staff are involved with preparing and maintaining sports turf, operating ground care machinery and equipment or, require a safe use of pesticides qualification, we have the course to suit them.
